Congress Party Looses Indira Gandhi Wins!
Crowds in New Delhi celebrate the 1967 election results. The elections bring about the end of Congress s unquestioned rule of the Indian government. The weakened electoral power for Congress opened the door for the rise of Indira Gandhi as Prime Minister. Crowds wave flags and hands in celebration after Election Day. The New Attorney General, Ramsey Clark
Acting Attorney General Ramsey Clark, son of Supreme Court Justice Tom Clark, is elevated to the Attorney General post by President Johnson. Simultaneously Supreme Court Justice Clark announces his retirement. The new Attorney General is 39, a native of Dallas, a longtime family friend of the President and a widely respected supporter of both Civil Rights and Civil Liberties. The majestic Nile valley hosts a major project of vital importance to Egypt's agricultural and economic development nears competition. The Aswan Dam requires the relocation of one hundred, seventeen thousand Nubian natives who were moved to new villages. The world famous ancient Abu Simbel temples of Ramses II and his Queen are removed to higher land, in one of the biggest moving jobs ever attempted.

U Thant: Sees No Early End To War
UN Secretary-General U Thant meets with North Vietnamese representatives, and then predicts a "prolonged and bloody" war unless the U.S. unconditionally halts the bombings in the North. Heavy fighting, spearheaded by tanks, pushes a Cong force back across the Cambodian border.

Voters in France pick a new National Assembly and early indications assure continued control by President DeGaulle. De Gaulle's campaign stressed stability at home before foreign politics.

For the first time in the history of Spain, Catholics and Jews pray together at the Church of Santa Maria. The joint services mark the passage of a new law giving non-Catholic denominations religious freedom throughout the country. In Downtown Madrid, the Roman Catholic Church of Santa Maria stands. Thousands Parade to Support Nation's Soldiers in Vietnam
Seventy thousand people show up in Manhattan to show support to the American soldiers fighting in Vietnam. Actor Chuck Connors (star of the Rifleman) is marching in the parade holding up the American Flag. The parade lasted over 8-hours. Some pro and anti war fractions clashed in several scattered fights, but police moved in quickly and broke up the skirmishes. The parade was organized by a fireman, it's purpose was to show our fighting men that the majority of the American people support them. Navy Pilots Return from Vietnam (1965)
Navy Pilots return from Vietnam: U.S. Navy pilots (attack squadrons) landing at Oceana Naval Air Station, Virginia Beach, Virginia, from the aircraft carrier USS Independence (CVW-7) after seven months of combat duty off the coast of Vietnam in 1965. Planes from this carrier were the first to bomb area near Hanoi and Haiphong sea port. Great colorful shots of families excitedly waiting for their loved ones.
