Leonardo da Vinci's: Lost Manuscripts Found.
Priceless Leonard Da Vinci manuscripts are found in the National Library of Madrid by Dr. Jules Piccus, a University of Massachusetts Language professor. Some 700 pages and 200 drawings are included in the lost treasure. It s been missing for a century and a half. Young fashion design students from throughout Europe enter their outfits in a competition held in Berlin. The outfits show surprising professional lines and inventiveness. Whale Netted
A whale-hunting expedition off the coast of Seattle, Washington, is successful. Some ten killer whales are corralled in huge nets. The Seattle Aquarium will keep two young calves and release the other eight, which range from babies to full-grown. Nets laid out across the ocean. Ocean Biologists are standing anxiously waiting to catch the babies unharmed in a net. LS Killer Whales swimming with their babies in the open ocean. Hong Kong Workers
The Red Chinese Village of Sum Chun is the major crossing point between Communist China and the British Crown Colony of Hong Kong. Here, the British and Red Chinese flags have flown peacefully, side by side, for 18 years. Workers cross daily and board trains at Lo Wu station. Lo Wu railroad station in Hong Kong. Northeast Hit By Gale-Force Winds
Hurricane-force winds whip the northeast, causing death and damage. Boston, MA Pedestrians cross a busy intersection and their holding onto their hats and hair. A 300 foot crane boom snaps, crashing down on ten parked cars at the MIT campus. Luckily, no one is hurt. New York, NY. Pedestrians buck the wind and, in most cases, lose. A water main break creates a geyser five stories high and the winds spread the flood in a wide area. New York pedestrians here having pretty much the same problems coping with the wind as they did in Boston. Winds are gusting to 82-mph in some areas. One of the streets in New York littered with newspaper and anything else that takes flight in the wind. In Manhattan a busted water main causes a flooded street and something that resembles Old Faithful. City workers work to shut off the water.
Enemy Snipers Take Toll
Drama and death on Bong Son plain, South Vietnam, where a squad of U.S. 8th Cavalry is ambushed by a regiment of Viet Cong. One GI is killed and two wounded. Helicopter rockets, artillery, and air strikes drive the enemy off and the trapped men are rescued. Tops of palm trees camera pans down and the US Marines are engaged in battle with the Viet Cong. Rio de Janeiro Floods
Record rainfall brings floods, death and destruction to the resort city of Rio de Janeiro. 224 persons are killed and three thousand left homeless as roads become rivers, apartment buildings collapse, and hillsides slide down from the heights onto city streets. Torrential rain, flooded streets and a damaged bridge. A street is washed out. A bus comes down a flooded street and people stand hip high in water. High Angle shot of traffic grid lock. People stand in the main thoroughfare that is blocked due to a land slide. CU Debris from destroyed homes, barns etc. A mound of rubbish that turns out to be the remains of a 6-story apartment building collapsed killing 150 people. India conducts general elections and the future of the ruling Congress Party and its leader, Prime Minister Mrs. Indira Gandhi is at stake. 251 million voters cast ballots over six days and first returns indicate serious setbacks for the Congress party. Throngs crowd the streets of India. Low Angle Shot political papers and flyers are clipped on ropes hanging across the streets in India. A mass of women and men turn out to cast their votes. Low Angle Shot a very large political sign endorsing Mrs. Gandhi, her rallying cry in running for office was "Remove Poverty". Mrs. Indira Gandhi was extraordinarily skilled in politics. Testing The Ejection Seat For Starfighter Jet
The British demonstrate their jet ejection seat aboard a carrier off Plymouth, England. West Germany wants to replace seats in their American-made Starfighter jets with the British model. Reason: loss of forty pilots in sixty-five Starfighter crashes. High angle LS British aircraft carrier. Camera Zooms In to ejection seat and naval personal watching the test. CU the Ejection Seat speeding down the deck of the aircraft carrier. LS the Ejection Seat goes off the aircraft carrier and the two dummies aboard are ejected. The two dummies are ejected and their parachutes deploy ensuring them a safe landing. It works!

Prologue to World War II - 25 years ago The people of Shanghai were standing firm against Japanese aggression when they were bombed without warning from the air and from the sea. This was the horrible preview of things to come --- civilians helpless before doom sowed from the skies. WS Shanghai ? Civilians in streets, young girl pushing cart. People rushing for safety, running for their lives. Bombed streets, cars on fire, dead bodies in street amongst rubble, destruction. Two men carry victim from building, wounded on stretcher. Refugees, people fleeing city, carry belongings. Mothers with babies, children. Mother holds child behind barbed wire. Americans were evacuated from the International Zone of Shanghai -- families of military and diplomatic personnel taken by tenders and tugs through heavy cross-fire to safety aboard U.S. liners. Emotional good-byes, soldier hugging young woman, she looks very distraught. Families with children. Little girl being held by navy official is carried onto boat. Fire, billowing black smoke. In San Diego, 1,200 Marines set sail for the Far East to protect American lives and property. Again, this was a preview of things to come -- in four short years American troops would once more pour overseas by the millions. 11-year old Kenneth Young of Beverly Hills, after four days as a kidnapper's prisoner, is returned home safe. His financier father paid a quarter-million dollars ransom. 6 year old Jutta Hempel of Flensburg, West Germany, takes on a dozen local chess masters in a mass match, simultaneously. She's a phenomenon, winning nine, drawing one, dropping only two. Amateur Clown Contest
Amateur clowns tryout for one-week with the Biggest Big Show, the circus at Madison Square Garden. The winner: Mrs. Claire Manley, a housewife who's wanted to run away with the circus for a century Female amateur clown (Claire Manley) wearing tuxedo running through cooking routine that employs a dose of magic, producing a hen from a shallow cooking pot that was empty a moment before. Four clowns (Tom Bebe and sons) pulling rubber chicken from large steel pot; they place the chicken back into the pot, stir the contents for a spell, when the youngest clown troupe member pops his head from the pot, giving everyone a shock.
