Drama and death on Bong Son plain, South Vietnam, where a squad of U.S. 8th Cavalry is ambushed by a regiment of Viet Cong. One GI is killed and two wounded. Helicopter rockets, artillery, and air strikes drive the enemy off and the trapped men are rescued. Tops of palm trees camera pans down and the US Marines are engaged in battle with the Viet Cong. CU US Marine crawling on his belly with his riffle clutched in his hand under enemy fire. CU a Marine lying on the ground suffering from enemy gun fire, his friend tries to comfort him. Marines running past the camera lens. CU Marine holding and firing his machine gun. Low Angle Shot Helicopters coming in to help the pinned down Marines. Two Marines pinned down in their fox hole, one Marine lays injured on the ground. Helicopter coming down for a landing. CU one Marine pinned down in the fox hole crawls out and over to the Marine laying on the ground. Low Angle shot Helicopter firing rockets. A Marine calls in his position while another Marine is sitting on the ground eating a sandwich under enemy fire. CU a Marine feeding a wounded Marine C-Rations. The wounded soldier has a bandage over his eyes, a neck brace on and his cheek is stitched up. Low Angle Shot - A helicopter overhead coming in for a landing. The Marines get evacuated from the fighting area. Lt. Co. McClure is helping a grateful wounded Marine to the helicopter. CU other wounded Marines getting escorted to the evacuation site.
